Ritual in Watercolor Workshop at Hazelwitch Farm, Saturday May 18th, 1-2:30pm
Please join me at my friend Ash’s beautiful flower farm (Hazelwitch) just outside of Richmond for an afternoon of painting and relaxing among the early summer blooms. Ash will harvest fresh flowers from the fields for us, and we will paint under the covered picnic area. Beverages and baked treats will be provided, as well as all painting materials. You also get to take your flower subjects home.
All workshops are offered on a sliding scale, $60-80. Please choose the tier that is right for you (there are 4 spots at $60, 3 at $70 and 3 at $80). There is one scholarship spot offered as well. To apply for the scholarship, please email me and tell me why you would like to attend this workshop. A scholarship winner will be contacted 2 weeks prior to the class date.

Ritual in Watercolor: Painting workshops weaving together presence with embodied creative flow
These workshops are explorations in how we create the spaces of sacredness and ritual, to give ourselves more fully to the creative spark that is present within each of us. The class will be taught with mindful compassion, and offer practices for setting up your own space so that you can give yourself fully to your art practice. We will learn simple tools and tricks for building your best environment, and learning how to work with watercolor as a medium. Using subjects from life that we have either foraged together, or have been provided for us, we will learn how to thoughtfully arrange our subjects and paint what we can observe and sense in our most open awareness.
This class is for anyone who desires to support their own creative practice with more reverence and intentionality, and for anyone interested in learning how to work with watercolor within that context.
Classes are 90 minutes and include meditations and gentle seated movement practices. Please come in comfortable clothes that you can relax in, and an offering for an altar space that will be held while we paint. This can be any memento that is meaningful to you, or something symbolic of what you want to infuse your art practice with.
My hope is that you can take these practices with you, and find ways to create ritual and a sense of ceremony around any day to day happenings in your life, infusing the mundane with the magical.
